Andreu Martí de Pineda (around 1490 - to 1560)

I am Andreu Marti de Pineda, native of Xativa, Notary and man of letters.

I was born in Xativa 50 years ago into a family of lawyers. There I trained as royal notary and when I was only 25 years I was allowed me me to practice my craft in Valencia. I lived with horror the years of Germanic rebellion finally quelled thanks to God and our Emperor Charles. Shortly after I married Francesca Benet and had my firstborn, Andreu Honorat, who is now 14 years old and learning to be a notary. I am a man of law and have held various positions in the service of the city and the monarch. On a couple of occasions I have been a Municipal Councillor, Justice of 300 salaries and general notaryof the realm. But I'm also a man of letters. Letters now flourish in Valencia, encouraged by competitions and gatherings organized by the Duke of Calabria and once sponsored his late wife, Germana de Foix. Contrary to the likes of Mrs. Germana, I prefer to create my compositions and other works in Valencian.
