Ramón Pujades (1580-1648)

I am Father Ramon Pulades, the priest.

I was born in Tortosa in the year of our Lord, 1580. I am thirty nine years old. After studying theology I was ordained in the Dominican convent of Santa Catalina de Barcelona. I was transferred to Valencia six years ago shortly after the patriarch, Ribera, died, God rest his soul. His forty years at the head of the diocese are remembered because he developed the decrees of the Council of Trent. Ribera placed special emphasis on vocations properly channelled and to that end he founded the great college of Corpus Christi. He also vehemently tried to evangelize the Moors, now fruitless because finally, due too their rejection of the true faith, led to their final expulsion. Shortly after he died so did the populist liar Father Simó, whose followers have caused large excesses in the city demanding his beatification. I have always been against these outbursts. Mystics confuse the people of little brain. The issue is, he put deep theoligcal questions into the language of the people. Finally it seems that the Archbishop Aliaga, our current pastor, and inquisitorial authorities have decided to end this controversy by banning the worship and closing the doors to his beatification in the Vatican.
