INTERNATIONAL MUSEUM DAY 2024

We celebrate International Museum Day 2024, which this year has the theme: "Museums for Education and Research."

The theme for this year aims to underline the importance of museums as dynamic educational institutions that foster learning, discovery, and cultural understanding.

 

All educational activities at the Museu d'Història de València are free of charge.

Tuesday, May 14th

12:00. Special visit. 'The Vessel of the Cycle of Life: An Iberian Masterpiece'. Guided tour led by Javier López Cavero

 

Wednesday, May 15th

12:00. Special visit. 'Valencia in the 14th Century: Immigration and Industrial Takeoff.' Guided tour led by Javier Martí Oltra

 

Thursday, May 16th

12:00. Special visit. 'Andalusian Ceramics at the Museum of History of Valencia.' Guided tour led by Pau Armengol Machí

 

Friday, May 17th

12:00. Special visit. 'The Treasure of Avenida Constitución.' Guided tour led by Vicent Lerma Alegría.

 

Saturday, May 18th

 
11:30. First Workshop 'The Letters of the Past'
Through a hands-on activity, young artists will learn about the importance of codices in preserving history and culture, and how these ancient works of art have influenced the way we read and write today. Each child will have the opportunity to create their own illuminated initial letter, using techniques that combine traditional art with modern creativity. Audience: Children (from 4 to 10 years old)

6:00 PM. Screening of the short film 'Macumbo,' followed by a debate on African immigration and its integration into European society.

 

Sunday, May 19th

 

11:00. Guided tour 'Explore the Museum.'

The guided tour of the MhV's permanent collection will serve to explore and understand the history of our city, as well as to reflect on the importance of museums for our community.

Audience: Adult

 

12:30. Workshop 'A Journey through Clay'

One of the most characteristic objects of the Roman world is undoubtedly ceramics. The youngest members of the household will become potters for a day in our museum and create their own ceramic piece.

Audience: Children (from 5 to 10 years old)
