Festival celebrated during the three days before Ash Wednesday (the first day of Lent). Traditionally characterized by excessive consumption of meat and celebratory costumed dances. In Valencia, in the end of the nineteenth century, masked processions paraded through the Alameda promenade over three consecutive days.
