I am Lois Colomina, industrial and financial, nephew of José Colomina and father of José Luis Colomina.
I was born in Havana in 1850, but from an early age lived in Valencia, where my uncle brought me as a child. When I reached the legal age he transferred the fan factories to me and I started to improve them with accumulated interest and the large sums of money that my father sent from Cuba. Also, I diversified my investments by buying shares in banks and railways, and to urbanize the city. Since the walls were demolished in 1865, Valencia is growing and needs men entrepreneurs like us to provide the capital needed to construct buildings and carry water, gas and electricity to the new neighbourhoods. I have also bought numerous orange groves in Torrent and Picassent, which has prompted me to enter politics by the liberal Party. We must defend the interests of the Valencian countryside free trade to protectionism imposed by Catalan industrialist and owners Castilian.
