Paul Spich (1454-1502)

I am Paul Spich, employee at the Große Ravensburger Andel-Gesellschaft company.

I was born in Constanza 45 years ago into a family of bourgeois merchants. In my youth, I joined the german company "great of Ravensburg", with which I have traveled the world and which has brought me to settle in Valencia. Recently, we received a visit from our friend and fellow countryman Hyeronimus Münzer, who was on his way to the court of Ferdinand and Isabella searching for information about the new route to the Indies opened by Cristobal Colón. The company established itself in Valencia in 1472 and the benefits are considerable. We sell for the most worth that which we buy and we have money to invest in other businesses, like the operation of a printing press or the rental of "trapigs of sugar" sugar cane mills in Gandia. Basically we byr rice, saffron, almonds, dates, wax, grain and leather from the kingdom to export end we wholesale linen fabrics and cotton, hemp yarn, cloths of Flanders, hardware, wire, brass copper and steel.
