From Valencia, Once Again

Valencia has been the primary protagonist in a great deal of the reaccionary coup d’etats throughout the history of Spanish constitutionalism. In 1814 the return to absolutism was signed here, and in 1843 Narváez, a coup member, received the title of Duke of Valencia for his support. In  1874 a military uprising formed in the fields of Sagunto, and during the coup of February 23, 1981 Valencia was the only city occupied by the army’s tanks.
