Ahmad ibn Galib (1192-1256)

I am Ahmad ibn Galib, perfumer of Balansiya, and master of the house.

I was born in Balansiya in the year 588 of the hegira and I am forty years old. I belong to lineage of Yahsub and am the son of Ghalib, son of Muhammad, son of Abdullah, the first perfumer of the family that prospered greatly during the administration of rey Lobo. My great grandfather Abd Allah was the youngest son of Yusuf tanner and inherited the perfume business from a friend who did not have children that were barons, so after entering as a service waiter, and married his daughter. *Between my most illustrious ancestors that Abd Allah ibn Yafar led from the suburban slum of Roteros a revolt against the oppression of Cid, Allah confused his soul. I have three children: Jalid, Fátima, and my beloved Ibrahim. We live in the neighbourhood next to the door of al-Warraq, north of the medina, near the Guadalaviar river. One of my major clients is the emir Zayyan ibn Mardanis, business is good and life smiles at me but it seems that the Christian threat is getting closer. No longer satisfied with the taxes, they now want our land.
