I was born in the year 597, forty five years ago, during the eleventh year of the reign of Recaredo. I am dominus of a villa in the ager valentinus, next to the river Turia, which possess more than six hundred servants. I also own lands in the Carpetania, a nearby region. My lineage is of Gothic ancestry, but my great-grandfather's parentage can be traced back to the family of Antonio, who was a member of the local Roman aristocracy. In reality, very few can claim of purity of blood, but I digress. The most pressing issue now is stopping bands of runaway slaves and focusing on relations with the Church, which decides the fate of Valentia.
