Francina Sanç (1453-1513)

I am Francina Sanç, noble, wife of Arnau Mascó, baron of Chóvar.

I was born 46 years ago in the heart of a noble family of Gandia. I married at 20 with Arnau Mascó, baron of Chóvar, and we had three children: Baltasar, Lluís and Isabel. Now we are preparing the wedding of the daughter of Lluís, to a wealthy merchant Miquel Tovía. It will be a celebration with all the luxuries: in the cathedral, with Minstrels, fireworks, and a treat which will see plates full of luxury and imagination. I even achieved to get some of the cooks that prepared the banquet that King Ferdinand the Catholic greeted Pope Alexander VI on. For Isabel would like a ceremony equally important, but my husband refuses to Arnau pay a substantial dowry and prefers she joins in Zaidía Monastery. She is fond of reading the psalter and the golden legend, that now proliferate printed, even flipped through the fragments of the Valencian Bible we had at home and the Vita Christi of sister Isabel de Villena, but the truth is that her life is not as pious it should be to enter a religious order.
